Rotary Clubs Pack Weekend Meals for Students

Rotary Club Atlanta Brasil joins Rotary Club of Smyrna for Backpack Buddies at Green Acres Elementary on September 29, 2026

The Backpack Buddies project, led by the Rotary Club of Smyrna, brings volunteers together to pack bags of food that children can take home for the weekend. For Rotary Club Atlanta Brasil, returning to this project was another opportunity to serve side by side with fellow Rotarians and support children and families in our local community.

Each bag packed represents much more than food. It represents care, security, dignity, hope, and peace of mind. When a child knows there will be food available at home over the weekend, that sense of security can make a meaningful difference for the entire family.

That is why we believe this project is also connected to peace. Peace is not only created through international agreements or large initiatives. Sometimes peace begins much closer to home.

Peace can begin when a child feels safe.
Peace can begin when a family feels supported.
Peace can begin when a community chooses to care.

By working together, Rotarians are helping address an immediate need while also strengthening the community around these children. September 29 was a reminder that consistent service matters: returning again and again to help meet a need is how relationships are built, trust is strengthened, and lasting impact begins.

We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Smyrna for leading this important project and for welcoming Rotary Club Atlanta Brasil to continue serving alongside them.

One bag at a time. One child at a time. One act of service at a time.

Service Above Self. People of Action. Building Peace Through Service.
